For runners from Stourbridge Running Club, months of training paid off at the Virgin London Marathon with some superb times and money raised for great causes. Duncan Cornish was first back for Stourbridge in 2.53.03, closely followed by Tom Isherwood in 2.54.41 and Edd Davies in 2.55.15. Steve Burch finished in 3.23.52, Tim Bailey in 3.33.05 and Pete Teale in 4.07.14.

Sisters Anna Owen and Lucy Hingley joined the running club's Marathon training group in order to achieve their goal and finished together in 4.50.42.


Stourbridge Running Club Members of Stourbridge Running Club saw months of training pay off at the Manchester Marathon. Gary Griffiths finished in 2.54.57, Louise Collins broke the club  female Marathon record in 3.04.44. Steve Burch finished in 3.26.41, Mark Lawton in 4.04.45 and Alistair Mcintosh in 4.26.23. At a lower key event Paul Bradley completed the brutal 20 miler, Ex to Ax in 5.10.00.
At the Lilleshall Monumental 10k Pete Walters finished 9th in 41.13 and Steve Moss in 51.08.

Stourbridge Running Club  had runners out far and wide this weekend with lots of great performances.

At the Groundhog Marathon, runners had to complete 105 laps of Telford Athletics Stadium.
A bit repetitious for some, but Tim Lloyd-Langston managed to overcome the monotony in 4.22.39.
Ian Bytheway completed his 51st Marathon in 4.27.53.

At the Rhayader 20, a tough run through the Welsh mountains, the men’s team finished second.
Individually, Matt Cooper came 8th in 2.08.01, Shaun Osborne 10th in 2.08.53 and
Tom Isherwood was 11th in 2.09.48. Gary Griffiths finished in 2.14.27, Duncan Cornish 2.16.28,
Mark Higgs 2.29.31, Louise Collins was 3rd Lady in 2.25.38 & James Bellamy in 2.50.07.

Helen Bellamy ran the 5 mile event and came 8th Lady, setting a new PB in 39.27.

Also in wet and windy Wales, Helen Evans took part in the Anglesey half-marathon.
Despite recent injury problems, Helen completed in 2.26.01.

At the local Action Heart 5 miler, Grace Allen was 2nd Lady in 33.23. Lynda Dunn finished in 49.02,
Chris Massey 52.58 and Neil Whitehouse and Wendy Bourne ran as part of “The Green Team” and finished in 1.13.10.

Stourbridge Running Club members fine tuned their Marathon preparations with a variety of races this weekend. Steve Burch completed the Gloucester 20 mile in 2.38.05. Steve has now done all the hard work and will be tapering for Manchester and London Marathons in April.

Ian Whyatt finished the "bloody hilly" Wigan half marathon in 1.55.41.

At the Coventry half marathon, James Bellamy finished in 1.37.24 . Having run together at last year's event, this year James left his wife to look after herself. Helen finished in 1.57.13 despite having to carry her own jacket and drink.

Stourbridge Running Club had runners out all over the country again this week. At the Langsett 13, Nick Hardy came in first and knocked 23 minutes off the course record, finishing in 1 hour and 32 minutes! Starting from the village of Langsett, in Yorkshire,  the route is run along some beautiful forest trails, before going out into the wilds for a short period of the race which consists of stony / rocky terrain, and in parts some glorious mud. Not to mention the 1300 feet ascent.

Grace Allen and Chloe Pearson were chosen to represent Worcestershire at the Inter-Counties Cross Country in Loughborough, Grace finishing the 8km course in 37.36 & Chloe in 38.55.

At the Silverstone Half Marathon, Pete Walters ran 13 miles around the famous race track in a PB of 1.21.10. Simon Walker finished in 1.43.25. and at the Ironbridge Half Marathon, Paul Bradley finished in 1.56.32.
